I don’t know about you, but I love Mothers Day. It’s the one day of the year I can really spoil my mum and show her exactly how much I love and appreciate her.
The only problem is I’m useless at buying gifts. My go-to is always the hamper – which is arguably the easy way out. A few chocolates here, a few miniature Sanctuary Spa products there – it’s all just a bit repetitive. Luckily for me, this Mothers Day I had The Tartan Blanket Co. to help me!
I had so much fun shooting for this post because it meant I could get all cosy (or should I say colsie) and read a good book. All I’m missing now is a tray of shortbread. This also came at the perfect time as the Welsh weather has been completely miserable after the brief February heatwave.

The Tartan Blanket Co. is an Edinburgh based family-run business. Their products include sustainable woollen blankets, scarves, and gifts. They recently launched their Colsie Collection and a range of gift boxes with something for everyone.
I first heard of TBCo. back when I ran my first blog and completely fell in love with the brand from the get-go. All of the products and their general aesthetic really speaks to me personally. I like supporting small businesses where I can, and they fit into the slow-living, cosy lifestyle bracket that I really enjoy. Anything homely can instantly win me over – especially when it’s in a cute gift box.
‘Colsie’ is an old Scottish word for ‘cosy’ – don’t worry, I did a double take the first time I read it too.
Nothing says “I appreciate you” more than a gift box filled with beautifully crafted sustainable products. My personal favourite is the Colsie Moments gift box – and I know my mum will love it too.
As my family has Scottish blood (my dad was born in Edinburgh) we love connecting with our Scottish roots. The Tartan Blanket Co.’s products are a reminder of our heritage and the perfect cosy addition to our family home. I’ve already picked out the blankets I’d want to have in my dream home one day (is it just me who does that??).
Although I don’t currently own one of their stunning blankets, I have purchased a TBCo. scarf previously. I own the lambswool scarf in baird tartan and it’s unbelievably soft. I’m really not a scarf person at all, but I’ve worn this every autumn/winter to protect myself from the bitter Welsh winds.
This gorgeous box contains; a vanilla & fig candle from Isle of Skye, COCO Chocolatier salted caramel hot chocolate, TBCo. Colsie mug, and TBCo. lambswool oversized scarf // recycled wool blanket // lambswool blanket.
This box is definitely my personal favourite, but I know that my mum would love it too. Our family has a bit of a ‘thing’ for cute mugs and she adores vanilla scents so it’s the perfect fit. By purchasing a TBCo. gift box, it adds a little ‘something’ extra to the Mother’s Day gift. The products have quirky and whimsical designs you wouldn’t be able to find easily elsewhere.
This refreshing box contains a TBCo. oversized lambswool scarf, Scottish Fine Soaps oatmeal bathing milk, oatmeal hand & nail cream, and an oatmeal luxury soap bar.
I’ve been keeping an eye on this one for myself, as I’m a sucker for anything self care related. In the words of Ru Paul; “if you can’t love yourself, how in the hell you gonna love somebody else?”. I’ll take any chance to mix myself up a bubble bath and relax surrounded by luxurious scents.
Like I said, there really is something for everyone! This green-thumbed box contains a TBCo. recycled wool picnic blanket, Sea Kelp hand & nail cream, and Isle of Skye citrus rush travel candle.
This is something I’d consider gifting to my grandparents as they like to dabble in gardening every now and again. At one point they had their own vegetable patch and grew herbs and vegetables from home (the dream!). I feel like this is a super thoughtful gift for people who might usually be tough to buy for.
This quaint box includes rose bud tea from Pekotea, Isle of Skye sea salt milk chocolate, Isle of Skye bohemian rose candle and a TBCo. recycled wool knee blanket // new wool knee blanket // lambswool blanket scarf.
This is definitely one for the chocolate lovers! Just looking at the photo of this box makes me want to curl up with a book and a blanket by a fireplace. But realistically, when do I not want to do that anyway? Once again, this is another one I’ve personally got my eye on. My birthday’s in May so I’m looking forward to treating myself to something thoughtful, and the TBCo. slow living box is definitely a strong contender!
If all the products in a particular gift box don’t tickle your fancy, don’t sweat it! You can buy all the individual items on The Tartan Blanket Co. website in their gift section or blanket and scarves product pages.
Because I know my mum would adore the Colsie Moments box, I settled on purchasing myself the Colsie ceramic mug. I couldn’t help myself, there’s just something about an aesthetically pleasing mug! I’ve been itching to feature this on my Instagram for a long time but was waiting for this post to go live. You can nab your own here for £10. I’m really excited to have collaborated with The Tartan Blanket Co. on this post as I’m all for supporting small businesses – so a massive thank you to TBCo. for the opportunity and for allowing me to use their beautiful photography.
