This is a post I’ve been meaning to get up for quite a few weeks now. I was nominated for the Versatile Blogger Award back in March, but am only now getting round to uploading it. I also wanted to include a short life update now that my first year at university has come to an end. Grab your hot drink of choice (mine is hibiscus tea today) and let’s get stuck in.
Firstly, thank you to the lovely Deandra of the Black Princess Diaries for the Versatile Blogger Award nomination!
Originally, The Black Princess Diaries began as a tumblr blog. It was a space for Deandra to share her poetry and life musings. Now, The Black Princess Diaries is a lifestyle blog with focus on female empowerment, life as a black woman, and a little poetry for good measure. If that sounds like your kind of content, then you should definitely check out her blog.
1 // Thank the person who nominated you and include a link to their blog
2 // Select 10-15 blogs you’ve recently discovered or that you follow regularly and nominate them for the award
3 // Tell the person who nominated you 7 things about yourself
1 // I’m a Human Biology student from Wales.
2 // I’m passionate about environmental conservation.
3 // My favourite colours (at the moment) are forest green and mustard yellow.
4 // When I was a kid I used to play the flute, I can still remember the basics and read sheet music.
5 // I’m happiest when outside and/or in the sunshine, which you might be able to tell from my Instagram feed.
6 // When I was younger I was dead set on becoming an author and used to write “novels” that I printed out and stapled together.
7 // I’m short sighted in my left eye and have a cataract in my right eye (which is apparently benign and won’t go cloudy according to my optician) although I don’t wear my glasses very often in the pictures on my social media!
While I couldn’t think of 10-15 bloggers to nominate for the Versatile Blogger Award (a lot of people have been nominated recently), I’ve chosen the following five bloggers to participate. If you’ve not yet been nominated for the award and still want to participate, then go ahead! Consider this more of an open nomination.
I can’t believe that my first year of university has come around so quickly! It feels like just last week I was registering for an open day. After my exams in May I’ll be moving back home from my flat, and saying goodbye to independent living for the summer. What I’ll be doing this summer still remains a mystery – I’ve been looking into doing volunteer work overseas but I haven’t made any concrete plans just yet. The idea of volunteering at an animal sanctuary really appeals to me so hopefully I can make that dream a reality.
Before I can get too excited about summer plans I’ve got to focus on my two last exams. Last semester I made the mistake of mixing up my exam dates and missed one, meaning I failed that module. I’ll be able to resit (thankfully) so hopefully I can pass it in the end, but I’m worried about these last two exams. They’re heavily maths/chemistry based modules and that’s not where my strengths lie at all. Fingers crossed I can revise hard and make it through to second year!
If you follow me on Instagram/Twitter you’ll know that I’m heading off to Edinburgh this week for a family holiday. This means there’s some travel themed posts on the way very soon – I already have a few ideas in the works! I’m officially packed (which is unheard of for me) and can’t wait to get going.
Edit; I’m actually uploading this post from Edinburgh (which you may already know from my social media). It really has been a fantastic trip so far!
